About Gagar Media

Who we are

Gagar Media is a digital newsroom covering the stories that matter, from national politics and the economy to technology, sport, entertainment and world affairs. We publish breaking news as it happens and follow up with the context and analysis that explain why it matters.

Our standards

• Accuracy first. We would rather be right than first. Every claim in a story should be attributable to a named source, a document or our own reporting.
• Clear labels. News reports, analysis and opinion are labelled so readers always know which they are reading.
• Corrections. When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and say so in the story.
• Independence. Advertising and sponsorship never decide what we cover or how.

How our fact checks work

Stories carrying a fact-check rating have been reviewed claim by claim. Checkable claims (names, numbers, dates and quotes) are identified and rated against the available evidence with the help of AI tools, and an editor reviews the result before the rating is published. Each rated story shows its review at the end, and every rating is listed on our Fact Check page.

Use of AI

Our journalists may use AI tools to help draft, summarise or check stories. AI never replaces editorial judgement: a person on our team is responsible for every story we publish, and AI-assisted drafts are built from source material our reporters have gathered.
